The Name Lee |
Yup I am a Lee. Named for one of my Mom's 9 brothers, Noble Lee. My grandmother called her children by their first name and middle name so when you say Noble Lee it sounds more like your saying Noblee. Say it out loud and you will find that it is very hard to pronounce both names seperately. So Noble Lee was the first to have the name Lee in our family. He named his first born Timothy Lee, another Uncle named his first born Mickey Lee, an Aunt named her first born Tony Lee and I was named Gregory Lee, also first born of my Mom and of course I broked the mold. lol So that gives us
1) Noble Lee 2) Timothy Lee 3) Mickey Lee 4) Tony Lee 5) Gregory Lee
The name Lee has spilled over into the third generation now. Mickey Lee named both his sons with Lee as their middle name. His explanation for this was cause he didn't want one to get jealous of the other cause one had their Dad's name. GEESH No comment on that. So Joshua Lee and Matthew Lee has come into the family. Timothy Lee named his first born son Jeremy Lee. Tony Lee named his first born Joshua Lee. One of my other cousins Rick Allen named his son Jeremy Lee.
6) Joshua Lee 7) Matthew Lee 8) Jeremy Lee 9) Joshua Lee (not to be confused with the other Joshua Lee) 10) Jeremy Lee (not to be confused with the other Jeremy Lee)
That's a lot of Lee's in one family. But where did the simple name of Lee come from? What does it mean? Aww but I did some research of this, and it's amazing as to what I found. Ok something I didn't know before.
The name Lee is a female name Orgin: Old English, Gaelic, Chinese. Meaning: Glade; poet; plum. Okay so basically I have a female name being a poet or a plum. ROFL On further searching I found the following.
1: English: topographic name for someone who lived near a meadow, pasture, or patch of arable land, Middle English lea, lee (from Old English lea, dative case — originally used after a preposition — of leah wood, clearing, a term with cognates in many European languages.) 2: English: habitation name from any of the many places names with Old English leah wood, clearing, as for example Lee in Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hampshire, Kent, and Shropshire, and Lea in Cheshire, Derbyshire, Hereford, Lancashire, Lincolnshire, and Wiltshire. 3: Irish: anglicized form of Erse Ó Laoidheach descendant of Laoidheach, a personal name derived from laoidh poem, song (originally a byname for a poet). Variant (of 1 and 2): Lea, Lees, Leigh, Ley; Lay, Laye, Lye (from the later Old English dative form, preserved in Middle English as l(e)ye. cf. Lye Worcestershire). (of 1 only): Atherlee (with fused preposition and article); Atlay, Atlee, Atley, Attle, Attlee (with fused preposition); Layman, Leyman, Lyman. (of 3): O'Lee, O'Leye, O'Lie, O'Loye, O'Lye. Lee or variants was the 49th most common name in England and Wales according to a survey taken by H.M.Treasury in 1944, with a relative frequency of 0.19%.
And finally I found this one.
Definition: 1) The surname LEA, including the common alternate spelling LEE,was originally given to a person who lived in or near a "laye," Middle English meaning 'clearing in the woods.' 2) Possibly a modern form of the ancient Irish name "O'Liathain.". 3) LEE means "plum tree" in Chinese. Surname Origin: English, Irish, Chinese Alternate Surname Spellings: LEA, LEIGH
So basically Lee means a female from a meadow growing plum trees while writing poetry. |

The One You Feed |
An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life.
“A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.
“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.
The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.
The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.” Author Unknown |

Peajib & Izzy |
These are my baby girls, Peajib and Izzy. I was really lucky to get them and who would have thought that my Mom would let a dog in her house much less 2 dogs. But hey she got me Peajib. Peajib came into my life after I had major surgery for the removal of a tumor in my colon. I lost 18 inches of my colon but gained my Peajib which made the trade worth it. I almost didn't make it back from the surgery, was in Ohio State University in Columbus, ICU for 4 days hooked up to a respirator, when I finally got off that and into a room on the way to recovering, my Mom asked me "Now what do you want for making it through this." Of course being on a morphine pump I still had my sense of humor and surprisingly I was a fast thinker. I said " A puppy". lol Who knew she would get me one too. I didn't cause I was just joking, but she did. Six weeks later we were looking in the Columbus Dispatch and called on this add about Yorkshire Terriers so off to Columbus we go and came home with Peajib that night. She was six weeks old and just the cutest little thing.
You wonder about Peajib's name. What language is that? What does it mean? lol Well stop wondering your not going to guess it. Mom and I was trying to figure out a name for her, nothing fit. Then one morning Mom said "Peajib". I go "HUH" "I like that name but what is it, what does it mean?" My Mom said it means "little one." "Oh Ok, in other words it's an old Kentucky slang word." My Mom is from Pike County, Kentucky. She was born and raised there until she was about 10 or 11 years old. So a lot of those old words are still in her vocabulary, and some have infiltrated into mine. Such as when I say mine it will rhyme with nine. lol To prove the meaning of the name Peajib my Mom took me around to all her brothers and sisters that are living here and when the ones that lived away came to town. Well they all didn't have the exact same thought, but it was all the same meaning. Some said, Itty Bitty, Tiny, small thing, little one etc.... Hmmm Ok I can live with the name Peajib.
Peajib was almost 2 years old when I had her breed. She gave birth to three of the tiniest little puppies. Both of the boys weighed 4.24 ounces and Izzy weighed in at 3.25 ounces, yup she is the runt and last born too. Both of the boys were born on June 17th and Izzy on the 18th. A great birthday present for Peajib (June 20th) eh! Or not. lol I named her Isabella, why I don't know I just liked the name, but we call her Izzy for short, which now I like Izzy better. lol
Any way these are my babies, and just wanted you to met them. Peajib is on the left and Izzy is on the right with a bow in her hair. |

CSI Miami & Spring Cleaning |
You might wonder what Spring Cleaning has to do with CSI Miami show, well nothing, but last night I watched CSI Miami with my Mom. During part of the show they showed the city of Miami with all the tall buildings and my Mom pips up and says " I don't remember all those tall buildings in Miami when we were there". I started to laugh at her and told her " Mom when we was in Miami they didn't have tall buildings like that". It's true we were in Old Miami back in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Thirty some years later with a lot of growth and you have New Miami so I imagine there is a huuuuuuuuuge change. It was just too funny tho, that she couldn't remember the tall buildings. I will have to hunt the photo I have of me when we camped out on one the Islands down in the Keys and place it here as soon as I figure out how to put photos here.
Now on to the spring cleaning. It is that time of year again that everything get's scrubbed down. YUK! Everything and I mean everything gets washed, the back of the furniture the drapes, the walls, the ceilings on and on. So it is going to take us a while to do it. My Mom's health has gone way down hill and mine was never uphill, so by the end of summer, spring cleaning might be done. |

The Cowsills |
If you know me then you know that I love music and one of my favorite groups were The Cowsills. They are a family band that was huge back in the 1960's. In fact the popular TV show The Partridge Family was based on The Cowsills. Here's a clip of their history "Back in the early 1960's, four brothers who wanted to be The Beatles formed a band called The Cowsills. The original Cowsills consisted of Bill on guitar, Bob on guitar and organ, Barry on bass and John on drums. Early gigs were at school dances and churches around their home in Newport, RI. Eventually, as their harmonic sound was perfected, they got a regular gig on Bannisters Wharf in Newport where they would sing Beatle songs hour after hour. Early recordings were released by the four brothers on Mercury Records. Barbara ("mini-mom") joined the group to record The Rain, The Park and Other Things and shortly thereafter 7 year old Susan and brother, Paul, were added to the group. They were signed by MGM records and the group began it's climb to the top!"
The Cowsills' hits included "Hair," "The Rain" and "Indian Lake." They had their own television special, made milk commercials and were regulars on Las Vegas stages before breaking up in the early '70s.
Barry Cowsill lost his life during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. His body was found under a wharf in New Orleans in late December 2005 and identified via dental records on January 4th, 2006. Soon after the memorial services of Barry, Billy Cowsills passed away from ill health.
I am on a mission in trying to help get The Cowsills in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of fame. 10,000 names are needed for the petition, I am #2210. Please take the time to sign the on-line petition for The Cowsills induction. During their research, the R-n-R committee has compiled some amazing facts about The Cowsills and their careers, including: 1) The Cowsills hold more gold records than many of the current Hall of Famers inducted as performers. 2) Billy played guitar on the song “Right On” recorded by Ike Turner. 3) Susan is the youngest rock performer to have a Top Ten hit. 4) John was part of the first American rock group to play in the Republic of China. 5) The Cowsills had the First Live Album to feature a Studio Track when In Concert featured “Hair”. 6) Hall of Famer Bob Marley used to cover Cowsill songs. 7) The Guestbooks on robinrecords.com and cowsill.com have posts from all 50 states, 19 foreign countries in six of the seven continents. 8) The Cowsills were the first of only 5 album covers done for rock bands by famous cartoonist Jack Davis. 9) Billy once recorded with a guitar borrowed from John Lennon. 10) The band’s true worth is illustrated by the fact that they were initially ‘discovered’ by Johnny Nash’s all black R&B label, JODA and they were ask to headline with future Hall of Famers’ Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, and The Beach Boys before they had their first hit record at Soundblast ’66 in Yankee Stadium.
Thank you so much for taking the time to sign the petition. http://www.cowsill.com/faq.html#HallOfFame |
